The Booklets
These contain explanations, questions and exercises with solutions. The style may be more suited to adult students. They are provided in alternative formats, PDF and HTML.
More Info

The PDF version is recommended for printing and is updated more often. You can print individual pages or the whole document.

The HTML version downloads quickly. It includes a page-change control at the top of each page, as in the picture below. For example, there are 15 pages in the Ratio and Proportion booklet. To change to page 2 you would click on the right arrow. Apologies for stating the obvious.

Alternatively, there are navigation links to the main topics under Contents on the opening page of the HTML version.

The Online Tests
Each test has two components:

  • a question paper that you can print and, if you wish, fill in with your working and answers.
  • an online submission, called a Quiz. You use the quiz to submit the answers and receive your grade plus feedback.

For example the revision test on Number has a Number question paper and a Number quiz.

You will find links to all the quizzes on the online tests page.

If you are not familiar with answering an online quiz then try the Practice Quiz.

The quiz software requires that you log in using either a visitor account or, better, you can create your own account. Your answers are saved so that you can review the answers and feedback later.

A junior technician earns £299 per week. About how much is that per month, rounded to the nearest £10? There are 12 months, 52 weeks and 365 days in a year? (2 marks)
Enter your answer: £  1300

(2 marks out of 2)
Correct. To do this without a calculator, you can approximate the £299 to £300. This small approximation will give the correct answer to the nearest £10.
Multiply 300 by 52 for the amount per year. Then divide by 12.
300x52=15000+600=15600 and 15600÷12=£1300
